What does mixing actually do?

The order matters: mastering assumes the mix decisions are already made. Master a bad mix and you get a loud bad mix.
Which one do you need?

Why AI-generated tracks only need mastering

Can mastering fix a bad mix?

Mastering processes the whole file at once, so it can fix whole-file problems: overall darkness or mud, low loudness, uncontrolled peaks, a dull top end.
