What the free master actually does
Free doesn't mean a token pass. The free Gleam master runs the same in-browser engine as the paid tier and corrects the problems that keep home masters from sounding released:
- Loudness. Brings your track to release-competitive level (about −11 LUFS integrated, with a −14 streaming-safe option) so it doesn't sound small next to commercial releases.
- True peak. Holds the ceiling near −1 dBTP so streaming codecs don't push your master into clipping.
- Tonal balance. Measures your track against a neutral target and corrects what's off — harsh presence, low-mid mud, missing air — rather than slapping one preset on everything.
- Honest metering. LUFS and true-peak numbers you can verify in any other meter, plus a level-matched A/B so louder can't masquerade as better.
