Change a song’s tempo without changing its pitch

Drop a song and we find its BPM and key. Pick a new BPM, a speed, or a new key, and hear it change as it plays. When it sounds right, download a WAV or MP3 at the same sample rate as your file.

It’s made for musicians: match a beat to a new tempo, slow a solo down to learn it, try a hook in a higher key, or make a slowed or sped-up version for TikTok and Reels. Turn off Keep the pitch for the classic tape sound, where the pitch moves with the speed.

Not sure of the tempo or key yet? The BPM Finder and Song Key Finder check them on their own. And when the new version is ready, master it free right here.

FAQ

Does this tempo changer upload my song?

No. Your song is read, changed and saved on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Will changing the tempo change the pitch?

Not with Keep the pitch on: the song gets faster or slower and stays in the same key. Turn it off for the tape-style sound, where the pitch rises and falls with the speed.

How far can I change the tempo?

Anywhere from half speed to double. Changes within about 25% sound the most natural. Bigger jumps can sound smeared, especially on drums.

Can I change the key without changing the tempo?

Yes. Leave the speed at 1× and move the key up or down by up to 12 semitones. Turn on Vocal-friendly to keep voices sounding natural.

What file do I get?

A 24-bit WAV or a 320 kbps MP3 at the same sample rate as your song (MP3 tops out at 48 kHz). If the change would push a peak over -0.1 dBFS, we turn the file down just enough and tell you by how much. Songs can be up to 30 minutes on a computer and 8 minutes on a phone.

How does it work?

It runs the open-source Signalsmith Stretch engine (MIT license) in your browser. The same engine makes the preview and the download, so what you hear is what you get.
